Our StaffAllow us to introduce you to our incredible team.  Dr. Edward WatsonDr. Edward Watson was born and raised in Inglewood, California. He attended Morningside High School and the University of Redlands graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. Dr. Watson attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and graduated in 1972 receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He graduated with honors receiving the Morris J. Thompson award for excellence in removable prosthodontics. He was elected to Alpha Tau Epsilon and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, both honorary dental organizations upon graduation. After graduation from dental school Dr. Watson moved to Newport Beach and has been in private practice there ever since. He earned a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1984 and went on to earn a Mastership in the same Academy in 1997. He was named Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 1992 and Fellow of the International College of Dentists in 1995. Dr. Watson is an active member of the Laguna Gnathological Research and Study Group, Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Orange County Dental Society, and American Dental Association. Dr. Watson lives in Newport Beach with his wife, Mikelle, and has two grown children. He enjoys surfing, sailing and traveling to exotic places.  Dr. Scott NivenDr. Scott Niven was raised in Newport Beach, California. He attended Newport Harbor High School and the University of California Irvine graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He graduated with honors receiving the Ralph Waldo Gerard award for outstanding research project of the year. His research project, "Interleukin-1 Beta is linked to Axonal Sprouting though its Regulation of Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 Expression", was published in the Journal of Undergraduate Research. 2001.V31,431-440. Dr. Niven attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and graduated receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He graduated with honors receiving the Rex Ingraham award for excellence in clinical operative dentistry. Dr. Niven was also a member of Psi Omega dental fraternity. After dental school Dr. Niven moved back to practice in Newport Beach and since then has been in private practice, as well as teaching at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Dr. Niven is an active member of the Laguna Gnathological Research and Study Group, Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, Orange County Dental Society, and American Dental Association. Dr. Niven was also a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry.  Mikelle Watson - Dental HygienistMikelle Watson is a Registered Dental Hygienist and has been with our office for many years. Mikelle grew up locally in Bellflower, attended Bellflower High School and then Long Beach State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Mikelle received her Dental Hygiene degree from USC School of Dentistry in 1971. She graduated with honors, receiving the award for clinical excellence and was inducted to the honorary dental society Alpha Tau Epsilon. After graduation she joined the faculty at USC as a full time clinical instructor in the dental hygiene department. She retired from the academic world in 1978 and was awarded “Instructor of the Year” by her students and colleagues. She has been a member of the California State Dental Hygiene Examining Committee since 1978 and has spent many hours volunteering at the Cheri Harris Children’s Dental Center of the Newport Beach Assistance League. In addition to her clinical work, Mikelle has worked in the dental industry and was the senior clinical educator for the dental endoscope company, DentalView. She has presented continuing education programs to many dental hygiene programs and associations across the United States, Europe and Australia. Mikelle is married to Dr. Edward Watson and has two grown children. She enjoys walking around Balboa Island, gardening, reading and spending “quality time” with Ed.  Susan Hardy - Dental HygienistSusan Hardy is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She grew up locally in North Tustin and attended Foothill High School. She went to the University of Southern California for dental hygiene receiving her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1982. Upon graduation Susan received the award for Outstanding Proficiency in Dental Hygiene, the highest honor given to a graduating senior dental hygiene student. She has worked in our office since 1984. Susan lives in Laguna Hills with her two children. She enjoys driving and restoring old Volkswagens.  Gina Hutchings - Dental HygienistGina Hutchings is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She grew up in Huntington Beach and attended Marina High School. From there she went to USC, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Gina currently lives in Long Beach with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family skiing and at the beach. Gina has worked in our office since 1985.  Leslie Dwan - Dental HygienistLeslie Dwan is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She grew up in Newport Beach and attended Corona del Mar High School. Leslie attended USC School of Dentistry receiving a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and has worked in our office since 1986. She currently lives in Newport Beach with her husband and three children. Among many other activities, Leslie enjoys spending time with her family on their boat in Catalina when she is not working.  Roberta Schuller - Dental HygienistRoberta Schuller is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She grew up in Claremont and attended Claremont High School. In 1988, she graduated from the USC School of Dentistry receiving a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. While at USC, she was a member of the Marching Band Colorguard and was honored to participate in the 1994 Olympic Band Colorguard. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygiensts' Association and enjoys traveling, reading, gardening and scrapbooking. Roberta lives in Mission Viejo with her husband and 4 children and has worked in our office since 1994.  Holli Howard - Dental HygienistHolli is a Registered Dental Hygienist and the newest edition to our hygiene team. She grew up in Southern California and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of the Pacific’s Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene. Holli has been in the dental field for 4 years now and prides herself on providing individualized quality care for each patient while easing fears with a comforting touch and treating each patient like they are family. Holli is passionate about her job and the services she provides with her loving care and expertise. Outside of work Holli enjoys spending quality time with her family especially her three nieces, hiking, running, snowboarding, golfing, traveling the world, embracing new music and culture, and exploring new hobbies, all of which are most enjoyed while staying active and being healthy. Holli is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association as well and stays current and knowledgeable with continuing education courses, peer reviewed research and journals of high scholarship.  Marta Catlin - Office ManagerMarta Catlin is our Office Manager. Marta grew up locally in Huntington Beach and attended Huntington Beach High School. She attended Sonoma State College and then began her career in dentistry. She worked in our office from 1975 to 1983 when she moved to upstate New York. After returning to California Marta resumed her position in our office. She currently lives in Huntington Beach with her husband, Ken, and enjoys gardening, bicycling and racquetball.  Wendy Good- Registered Dental AssistantWendy Good is a chairside assistant and is the newest member of Dr. Watson and Dr. Niven's team. She grew up in Cornwall, England and attended Laguna Hills highschool. Wendy has been in the dental field since 1990. She currently resides in Laguna Niguel and enjoys cooking, running and spending time with her two children Conley and Lauren.  Carie Sapien - Dental AssistantCarie Sapien is a Chairside Dental Assistant. She has worked in our office since May, 2002. Carie grew up locally in Seal Beach and attended Los Alamitos High School. She attended Concorde Career Institute for her dental assisting degree and graduated number one in her class. Carie lives in Fullerton with her husband, Aaron, and her son Aiden. She enjoys going to the Colorado river with her family on weekends.  Trina - Registered Dental AssistantTrina was born is Oahu, Hawaii and moved to California at the age of three. She received her dental assisting training at Grossmont Health Occupations Center and has been a Registered Dental Assistant for the past twelve years. Trina currently resides in Irvine and enjoys spending time with her family. |
